Placed alongside physicians and nursing staff across the trauma service.

  • Rotated through high acuity, resuscitation, triage, ambulatory care and audiology.
  • Observed the pathway for high-risk presentations, from triage decision to disposition.
  • Followed vital-sign interpretation at the bedside.
  • Observed ultrasound, plain-film radiography and MRI in a working trauma department.

Five-day certified course

Hands-on emergency care, assessed on manikins and in scenario work.

  • Performed CPR on infant, child and adult manikins with an AED.
  • Applied wound dressings and immobilised ankle, arm and hip fractures.
  • Managed first, second and third degree burns, including electrical injury.
  • Worked through initial management of ocular injury and epistaxis.
  • Completed team scenarios on approaching an emergency scene safely.
